Tom Taranowski

New to flying, got my ticket at 48 after getting inspired by trips to Alaska (it was actually my wife's idea that I should learn how to fly bush planes). Now, my wife and I fly all over visiting craft fairs and everything from backcountry strips to sandbars. I got into STOL through encouragement from my friend and back country mentor Jon "Jughead" Counsell. I do STOL to hone my skills for the backcountry, but my favorite part is that the STOL community is amazing, and I've made some outstanding friends that bring new experiences and adventure and a deep richness to my life. The FX3 is my first airplane, and a real joy after training in a flight school 172. I first flew the FX3 down at Tac Aero, where I learned tailwheel in Fredricksburg, TX in 115 degree heat. I got to test fly everything from the top cub to the NX Cub, and knew when I took off in the FX3 that it was the plane for me.
