Bio
My interest in computers, gaming, and aviation began early in life, when all three came together in a memorable way. In 1976, during a family trip to Disney World in Florida, I experienced my first airline flight and was introduced to a tabletop version of Pong at the hotel where we stayed. That trip sparked a fascination with both technology and flight that has stayed with me ever since.
Soon afterward, I began exploring those interests at home with an Atari 2600 and other early gaming systems. As my curiosity grew, so did my interest in computing, eventually leading me to the Atari 800, where flight simulation became a defining part of that journey. With a limited budget and a natural instinct to build and improve, I turned to IBM-compatible PCs and built my first computer at the age of 19. From that point forward, I continually upgraded and refined my systems, often using Microsoft Flight Simulator as the benchmark for the performance I wanted to achieve. Over time, that same curiosity grew into a career in technology while my connection to flight simulation remained a constant source of inspiration.
Alongside my technical career, my interest in aviation extended beyond the simulator. I had the opportunity to train with a certified flight instructor, which led to passing my written exam, completing a solo flight, and flying a cross-country route in a dependable Cessna 172. Although family responsibilities and career priorities eventually shifted my focus away from flying more actively, my passion for aviation never faded.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 rekindled that enthusiasm and reconnected me with the broader flight simulation community. Through the Flight Simulation Association, FlightSimExpo, and collaborative online events, I found new opportunities to learn, connect, and contribute. That renewed involvement led to organizing and leading community flights and live online events on the Forder Learn to Fly Twitch channel. What I enjoy most about flight simulation is the way it brings people together through shared learning, exploration, and a love of aviation.
